I have been suffering from
ABH (angina bullosa hemorrhagica) for about an year. At first I though it was because I was biting my tongue, but then I realised that was not the case. Huge blood-filled blisters stared appearing in my mouth for no obvious reason. I have had diabetes symptoms and herpes, and both my mother and grand father had the similar hereditary predilection. I took me dozens of painful encounters that lasted typically from 1-3 weeks before I figured out what was triggering the condition.

ABH is not dangerous, but it is painful and makes both speaking and eating somewhat unpleasant. There are no medicines to treat it and no recommendations to cure it other than let the nature take its course. I noticed that the condition has the same mechanics as herpes and in my body it is triggered by stress, flu or some other illness. I don't really do much stressful things including being productive or working, so that made it possible to trace down the root cause of this condition.
If you get ABH, do not
- puncture the blister as that will get infected and infect your whole mouth for 3 weeks instead of 1-2 weeks
- eat hard food that might cause you to bite the blister, or even worse, cause another blister under the current blister
- eat things that are likely to enter the blister after it has punctured as it may rotten there and then the fun will last up to 4 weeks
The blisters in photos in the internet are small ones. The ones I have been getting are about 3 cm/1.2 inch long. The smaller heal faster and are less painful, and less likely to trap some food inside.
There is not much information available as there are no medicines and
money to make for those who finance papers and research. Feel free to share your experiences and tips if you have the same condition.
Cheers,
Santeri
